Jr. Bandits BLL — Week Two Recap
Stampede Edge Blizzard in Tight Grade 5/6 Battle
Week two opened with a hard-fought matchup between the Stampede and Blizzard in the Grade 5/6 division. The Stampede came out firing, jumping to a 5–2 lead after the first period behind a hat trick from Rex McComber. The Blizzard mounted a strong second-half push and brought the game within one, but the Stampede held on for a 7–6 victory.
McComber finished the night with four goals to pace the Stampede offense. Elijah Nowak led the Blizzard with two goals, while Raylon Hill anchored the Stampede win with 16 saves in net. The Stampede now turn their attention to a matchup with the Rapids, while the Blizzard prepare to take on the Buffaloes.
Thunderhawks Start Fast, Top Glaciers in Grade 7/8 Action
The Thunderhawks grabbed control early in the night’s first Grade 7/8 matchup, building a commanding 9–2 lead through two periods before securing an 11–6 win over the Glaciers. The Glaciers surged in the third, outscoring the T-Hawks 4–2, but the deficit was too much to overcome.
For the Glaciers, Evan Rizzo (1+2), Dominik Olmstead (2+0), and Hudson Ekberg all recorded two-point nights. The Thunderhawks were led by a dominant playmaking performance from Snyder Pragle, who posted six points (1+5), along with a strong outing from Dominick Velardo, who tallied three goals and an assist. The Glaciers return to action next week at 8 p.m. against the Stealth, while the Thunderhawks head into their first bye week before meeting the Stealth on December 22.
Pythons Complete Comeback, Win Overtime Thriller Against Stealth
The final game of the night delivered the biggest drama as the Pythons stormed back from a five-goal deficit to defeat the Stealth 13–12 in overtime. The Stealth held a comfortable lead with three minutes left in the second period, but the Pythons roared back, scoring seven of the final nine goals in regulation.
Cooper Orr buried the late equalizer to force overtime, and Timothy Nanticoke sealed the comeback with the OT winner. Evin Sweeney led the Pythons with a six-point performance (4+2), while Cole Napier paced the Stealth attack with five points (4+1). The Stealth look to rebound next week against the Glaciers, while the Pythons head into a bye week before their next meeting with the Glaciers.
