🏆 Jr. Bandits BLL Kilgour Cup Championship Recap

by Jr. Bandits Staff and ChatGPT

Championship night delivered everything you could ask for—intensity, big-time performances, and unforgettable moments as two teams etched their names into Jr. Bandits BLL history. From comeback control in the 5/6 division to a stunning upset in the 7/8 division, the Kilgour Cup Finals capped off an incredible season in style.

5/6 Division Kilgour Cup – Rapids 9, Blizzard 6

After conceding the game’s opening goal, the Rapids settled in quickly and took control for good. Keegan Rajk sparked momentum with a key goal to make it 3-2, and from there, the Rapids never surrendered their lead.

The Blizzard kept things tight throughout, with Evan Boorman delivering an outstanding performance, including a third-period goal to bring his team within one. However, the Rapids responded when it mattered most. Easton Carpenter and Brantley Bachman buried the final two goals to shut the door and secure the championship.

Paxton Britt notched the eventual game-winner, while a balanced offensive attack saw eight different Rapids players record points. Gavin Mazur (1+2) led the way, and Easton Carpenter powered the offense with a hat trick.

Between the pipes, Xander Ferguson stood tall with 11 saves on 15 shots, while Gavin Snyder added five stops in relief. Despite the loss, Evan Boorman’s four-goal effort highlighted a Blizzard offense that battled hard but struggled to generate sustained pressure.

7/8 Grade Division Kilgour Cup – Thunderhawks 12, Pythons 6

In one of the biggest surprises of the season, the Thunderhawks dethroned the previously undefeated Pythons with a dominant all-around performance.

Logan Stubley came out firing, scoring the game’s first two goals and setting the tone early. The Thunderhawks never trailed, and a decisive five-goal run in the second period stretched their lead to 9-3, putting the game firmly in their control.

The Pythons attempted to rally behind Gavin Gajkowski, who scored twice in the third, and Evin Sweeney, who continued his standout season with four goals. But the Thunderhawks’ defensive unit, led by coach Zack Belter, held strong—limiting the Pythons to just six goals on 24 shots.

Goaltenders Daniel Farnham and Cameron Crowe anchored the effort in net, while the offense fired on all cylinders. Logan Stubley delivered a massive (6+1) performance, supported by Snyder Pragle (2+1), Dominick Velardo (2+1), and Trey Worley (2+0).
