poop
It was a week full of edge-of-your-seat lacrosse action in the Jr. Bandits Box Lacrosse League as three games delivered excitement, drama, and plenty of highlight-reel moments. From overtime heroics to late-period comebacks, the players brought their best as the regular season heads toward its final stretch.
Stampede Edge Rapids in Overtime Thriller (Grade 5/6)
The Stampede pulled off a dramatic 9-8 overtime victory over the Rapids, taking sole possession of first place in the grade 5/6 division. The game saw the Stampede go on a six-goal run to take a 7-4 lead, but the Rapids responded with four straight to lead 8-7 late in the third period. Rex McComber tied the game for the Stampede with just 38 seconds remaining, and Hunter White scored the overtime winner to seal the victory. McComber and Thomas Scanlan each recorded hat tricks for the Stampede, while Gavin Mazur and Easton Carpenter each tallied three goals for the Rapids.
Blizzard ADD TO WIN Streak with Win Over Buffaloes (Grade 5/6)
After a season of narrow defeats, the Blizzard found themselves on the winning side in a 7-6 victory over the Buffaloes, fueled by a dominant third period in which they outscored their opponent 4-1. Evan Boorman led the way with a hat trick, and Ryan Lukasik contributed a three-point night (2 goals + 1 assist). In goal, Weston Stewart and Brixton White combined for 20 saves on 26 shots. The Buffaloes got goals from six different players, including Seamus Gleeson, who cut the deficit to one with 1:50 remaining, but the Blizzard held on for the win.
Stealth Hold Off Glaciers (Grade 7/8)
In the grade 7/8 matchup, the Stealth defeated the Glaciers 9-6, building a strong early lead that proved too much for the Glaciers to overcome. The Stealth jumped out to a 7-2 advantage, and though the Glaciers outscored their opponent 4-3 in the third period, it wasn’t enough to close the gap. Tony Rebmann led the Stealth with an incredible five-goal performance. For the Glaciers, Evan Rizzo and Hudson Ekberg each scored two goals, while Ryder Bauer made 15 saves in net.
